Hotel Rwanda

Hotel Rwanda is based on the real life events in 1994 Rwanda. The film started as a hotelier, Paul, who attempted to save his fellow citizens from the ravages of the geocides. The film, which had been called an African Schindler's List, documents Paul's acts to save the lives of his family and more than one thousand other refugees, by providing them shelters in the Hotel des Mille Colliness. Hotel Rwanda explores genocide, political corruption and repercussions of violence.

Tensions between Hutu and Tutsi peoples lead to a war in the African country of Rwanda, where corruption and bribes are routines. Paul, the manager of a hotel, is Hutu but his wife Tatiana is Tutsi. His marriage is a source of racial conflict.

In the whole story, Paul must diver the Hutu soldiers, care for the refugees, be a source of strength to his family. The UN Peacekeeping forces, led by Colonel Oliver, are unable to take assertive action against genocide since they are forbidden to intervene in the genocide.

This movie makes me think of the relationship between people and their country. Not only in Rwanda but also in Taiwan, two people who don't know each other may fight with each other because they belong to different political party. However, if we don't know another's ideology, we can make firends together. It's very necessary that we have to tolerate those who are not familiar with us, because everyone is different, and we should respect each other.
